Do Touchscreen Devices Help Children Learn?

Do Touchscreen Devices Help Primary Age Children Learn?

I've come across an interesting article by on how the use of smart tablets can actually enhance early years learning within the classroom.

The use of technology has never been more prominent than it is in today's society. Parents and teachers alike are being told to limit screen time because the use of smart phones and tablets could be potentially damaging. There are even calls to ban the use of smart devices in schools!

The debate as to whether screen time can be beneficial to young children's learning is still ongoing and with lack of evidence on the longer term effects on the use of technology, it is a huge grey area.

Having two young children myself, I personally found this article quite re-assuring that limited smart device usage can actually be beneficial in the classroom in a number of ways. In an ever changing and technologically advanced world, it is fast becoming impossible to avoid smart phone/tablet usage.

However helpful touchscreen devices may be, they are not without their difficulties. The article gives information on how to use smart devices responsibly and troubleshoots some common issues you may come across too.

What are your thoughts? We'd love to hear from you! Please e-mail your comments to [email protected]
