Easter Craft Ideas - Have a Great Easter!

Another term is drawing to a close...

Is it just me who believes this academic year has flown by thus far? I can admit that I am also looking forward to a two-week break from the norm, with no school-runs, no ballet/dance classes and no swimming classes that seem to dominate our day-to-day lives.

Having said that, I am now planning how to keep my children entertained during the Easter holidays, so, I will leave you with some easy Easter craft ideas which can be happily transferred to the classroom for some creative, end of term fun!

Easter Wreaths

(Source/Picture Credit: theresourcefulmama.com)

You will need:

  • 1 x paper plate
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Patterned/multicoloured paper
  • Tape
  • Glue

Method:

1. Cut out the middle of the paper plate to ensure that the rim of the plate is left intact (don't dispose of the middle of the plate just yet!) Put the plate rim to one side.

2. Draw an egg shape on to the paper plate "middle" and cut it out to use as a draw-around template.

3. Draw around your egg-shaped template onto different patterend/multicoloured paper and cut the shapes out until you have a good assortment of eggs.

4. Take your plate rim and put it upside down, add some glue, and then proceed to stick your assortment of eggs on to the wreath as pictured above.

5. To hang your wreath, just tape a loop of ribbon on to the reverse side of your wreath.

6. Add any finishing touches e.g. decorative ribbons to the wreath if you want to!

Easter Egg Weaving

You will need:

  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • A4 plain paper (or multi-coloured/pattered paper)
  • Multicoloured ribbon/paper/felt or anything else you could weave.
  • Tape
  • Scissors

Method:

1. Draw an egg shape onto your A4 plain paper and the cut it out.

2. Using your ruler, draw approximately 8 vertical lines about 1cm apart. Do not take the lines all the way to the edge of the egg or you will end up cutting your egg apart. Ensure your lines fall short of your edges (as per the above picture).

3. Carefully use scissors to cut along the lines.

4. Depending on what you have chose to weave through your egg, I've chosen an assortment of coloured paper, cut it into thin strips. Weave each strip through your egg. You can secure each strip in place by taping the ends down on the back of your design.

5. Add any finishing touches to your design if you want to!

Easter Bunny Plates

You will need:

  • Paper plate
  • Assortment of coloured paper
  • 3 x pipe cleaners
  • Googly eyes
  • Pom-pom
  • Felt-tip
  • Tape

Method:

1. Choose a colour scheme for your bunny and select the appropriate coloured paper, pom-pom and pipe cleaners as per your design. (The above picture is for illustration purposes only).

2. Arrange your pipecleaners to look like whiskers by twisting them all together in the middle a couple of times. Fix to your paper plate using glue or tape.

3. Add your bunny's pom-pom nose by fixing it to the "twist" in your pipecleaners. You can use tape or glue for this.

4. Stick two googly eyes to your paper plate using glue.

5. Draw two "bunny-ear" shapes onto a piece of paper and cut them out to fix to the back of your paper plate. (You can add further detail by drawing and cutting out two slightly smaller bunny ears on a different coloured piece of paper and fixing them to the original ear shapes before fixing them to the plate.)

6. Add any finer details with a felt-tip pen.

...And there you have it. Easter craft ideas for the classroom should you need it!

Have a wonderful Easter Break!!
